Position your Online Brand with the right strategy

by Gracie | Aug 1, 2014 | Social Selling | 0 comments

Position your online brandEvery individual is an asset, and popular assets are brands everyone knows.

Your personal brand goes beyond a handshake and a smile. It extends online, to social media sites, blogs, forums and search engines. Your brand is built and recognized through your work, actions, attitude, character, and many other aspects. Therefore it is so very important to maintain a good profile.

1.     Focus –

On what you want to achieve for your business. What do you represent? What value you provide to your prospects? What are your personal goals and business goals.People who visit your social media home page or website or blog should be able to tell at a glance what you do.

2.     Update/Create all of your profiles at the same time

Once you know exactly what you want your personal brand to be, it’s time to implement it across the right channels. Create a logo and color scheme for your website, blog, Twitter page, and other social media platforms. Since you want to build an online identity that sticks, the key to this is consistency.

3.     Plan to Participate

Interaction and engagement are two of the most important metrics in measuring the success of your social media marketing. Share your posts at the right time, ask questions, use images, be concise and interesting, be helpful.

4.     Communicate

Communicate with the leaders in your field. Comment on their blogs, with a link back to their site. Talk to them on Linkedin and Twitter and Facebook. This helps people associate you with the leaders, and start to see you as a leader as well.

5.     Be genuine by being simple.

It’s pretty obvious that coming off as genuine and honest helps your personal brand, but many still miss the mark. This can be because they’re trying to do too many things at once. Simplicity is better. This is easy on Twitter, when you’re forced to keep tweets to a certain amount of characters, but it can be tricky when navigating other social media sites. Shoot for saying more in a sentence then you could in a paragraph. That’s what people respond to, because chances are, no one is taking the time to read your 1000 word essays on Facebook or LinkedIn.

Using social media, you can completely control your online brand and image and shape the way others view your profile. The best way to make sure you are sending out the message you want, is creating an effective and consistent online brand, and using social media is the easiest way to do that!
